Keep recruiting soldiers from your populace as free peasants become available, prioritizing men-at-arms. Sir William, your ally next to you, will give the sign to attack and you should follow his advice to tackle this insufficiently guarded eastern wall sector. Rally all existing and newfound units to the first settlement: here you can get up a nice concentration of troops and dispose of the enemy before they could get a step on the trail. In CHAPTER 3, you are facing your first siege scenario, where your initial troops have to break through two hostile defensive lines to reach Edwin, held prisoner on top of the enemy's keep. While you are getting out your industry, recruit a few armed peasants. Stone will provide a nice income during the mission, and we need all the gold we can get for building poleturners. Since you can now buy and sell goods (particularly stone), buy in wood to speed up production for a quarry and an ox. Place two of each food buildings, a large hovel closest to the keep and two woodcutters. Since you also get two fallback positions, you can safely welcome the enemy near the forward fort. Your options are much broader compared to the previous mission, with an ample stockpile of wood and a neatly established religious service.
You need to withstand attacks long enough to achieve victory. The other areas of the map is variably green and packed with trees.
The 'three forts' are located along this trail, all of them surrounded with wooden pallisades. You start in a hilly area, where your keep is reachable through a rather slowly ascending steep along a river. This is mission 3 in the Stronghold 3 military campaign.
